1. Purpose
This Corrections Policy defines how errors are identified, assessed, and amended within the knowledge base.
The objective is to maintain a stable, neutral, and verifiable record of Motorcycle Club (MC) cultural systems, ensuring that accuracy is preserved without compromising structural clarity or editorial consistency.
Corrections are treated as part of the ongoing maintenance of a public-interest reference work.
2. Editorial Alignment
All corrections operate within the established editorial standards of this knowledge base:
- Content remains system-focused, not narrative
- Language remains neutral, precise, and non-sensational
- No material is altered to introduce attribution to specific clubs or individuals
- Corrections improve clarity and accuracy, not interpretation
3. Scope of Corrections
Corrections apply only to issues that affect the integrity of the documented system, including:
- Factual inaccuracies in structure, terminology, or function
- Internal inconsistencies within articles
- Misuse or misdefinition of terms
- Errors in Harvard-style referencing or citation formatting
- Omissions that materially affect structural understanding
The following are not considered corrections:
- Variations in practice across different clubs or regions
- Interpretive differences where multiple frameworks may exist
- Requests to include specific organisations, events, or individuals
4. Types of Corrections
4.1 Minor Amendments
- Typographical errors
- Formatting issues
- Citation formatting adjustments (Harvard style)
- Clarifications that do not alter meaning
These may be implemented without formal notice.
4.2 Substantive Corrections
- Errors affecting the accuracy of a structure, role, or protocol
- Incorrect definitions or functional descriptions
These are documented with a Correction Note, including:
- Nature of the error
- Corrected information
- Date of amendment
4.3 Structural Revisions
- Reorganisation of content to improve clarity or consistency
- Alignment with updated editorial standards
These do not alter meaning but may affect presentation.
4.4 Retractions (Exceptional)
Applied only where content is determined to be fundamentally unreliable.
Retracted material is not removed without a record; instead, it is clearly marked and preserved for transparency.
5. Correction Method
All corrections follow a consistent process:
Identification
Errors are identified through internal review processes.
Verification
Corrections are based on:
- Cross-referenced structural knowledge
- Consistency with established MC organisational frameworks
- Verified and appropriate sources where applicable
Implementation
Changes are applied in line with the classification defined in Section 4.
Documentation
Substantive corrections are recorded to maintain transparency and continuity.
6. Referencing Standards (Harvard Style)
Where sources are used, corrections must ensure:
- Citations follow Harvard referencing format
- References support structural understanding, not anecdotal claims
- Sources are used to reinforce generalised frameworks, not specific cases
Unverified or non-corroborated material is not introduced during correction.
7. Version Integrity
The knowledge base maintains a stable record structure:
- Core definitions are not repeatedly rewritten without cause
- Significant changes may be version-tracked
- Historical accuracy is preserved without layering narrative interpretation
Corrections refine the record; they do not reframe it.
8. Independence
This knowledge base operates independently of:
- Motorcycle clubs
- Individuals
- External organisations
Corrections are not made in response to:
- Reputation management requests
- External pressure
- Unverified claims
All amendments are evidence-based and aligned with editorial standards.
9. Contributions and Submissions
During the current phase, the project does not accept public submissions.
Future correction submissions, if enabled, will be:
- Subject to verification
- Required to meet all editorial and sourcing standards
- Limited strictly to structural accuracy
10. Limitations
Due to the decentralised and non-uniform nature of MC culture:
- Not all structures can be universally confirmed
- Variations are expected and are documented where appropriate
- Absence of information is not replaced with assumption
Where uncertainty exists, it is retained rather than resolved through speculation.
11. Policy Review
This policy is subject to periodic review to ensure continued alignment with:
- Editorial standards
- Academic referencing practices
- Archival integrity requirements
Archive Position
This knowledge base prioritises:
Structure over narrative
Consistency over interpretation
Verification over assumption
Corrections exist to preserve these principles, not to modify them.
